Room Checker

Pick a room, then the zone of the house it's actually in, for a sourced, deterministic verdict.

1. Which room?

Room placement — questions people ask

What direction should my kitchen be in?

Southeast is the near-universal classical and modern consensus for the kitchen — it is Agni's (fire) own zone in the vastu-purusha-mandala. Northwest is the accepted secondary zone. Northeast is the one zone to avoid: it is documented as a major dosha linked to disrupting the sacred Ishanya corner.

Is my bedroom in the wrong place?

For a general bedroom, West or Northwest is ideal and South is an accepted secondary; Northeast is the one near-universal avoid-zone for any bedroom, since that corner is reserved for worship in the classical framework. The master bedroom has its own stronger rule: Southwest is close to mandatory.

Where should the pooja room (worship room) be?

Northeast is the single most consistent zone-to-room mapping in classical and modern Vastu sources — the entry-point zone for divine energy. East or North are fully acceptable fallbacks if Northeast is unavailable, not compromises.

Can a toilet or bathroom be anywhere in the house?

No. Northwest is the majority ideal zone for a toilet or bathroom, with West as an accepted secondary. Northeast and Southwest avoidance is the strongest, most consistent claim in the sources surveyed for this room.

Is parking or garage placement genuinely disputed in Vastu?

Yes — this is one room where sources split into two live positions. One position favours Northwest or Southeast (vehicle movement, the air element); the other favours Southwest (treating a parked vehicle as a stored, heavy object). Both agree Northeast should be avoided. This checker ships Southwest as the default and flags the entry as disputed pending expert validation.

Where do this tool's verdicts come from?

Every verdict is read from a versioned, deterministic rule set compiled from classical Vastu sources and cross-checked against modern practitioner guides. The same room and zone always produce the same output, and each result lists its sources with a confidence level. No AI generates or alters verdicts.
