Entrance Vastu — questions people ask
What is a pada in Vastu Shastra?
In the Vastu Purusha Mandala, each side of a building is divided into equal segments called padas, each presided over by a deity. Classical texts judge an entrance by which pada the main door occupies, not just the broad direction. Each cardinal side has 8 entrance padas, giving 32 possible door positions.
Do I need to know my door's exact pada to use this checker?
No. If you only know the facing direction (North, East, South or West), tap the direction button for a simplified verdict and the best padas on that side. If you can locate the door's pada — by dividing the side of the house into 8 equal parts — tap that segment on the compass for the precise verdict.
How do I find which pada my main door is in?
Stand facing your house and divide the wall containing the main door into 8 equal parts, numbered clockwise around the building. The part containing the centre of the door frame is its pada. A compass app helps confirm which cardinal side the wall faces.
Is a South-facing entrance always bad in Vastu?
No. Classical Vastu judges the pada, not just the side: specific South-side padas are traditionally considered auspicious, while others are not. That is why this checker asks for the pada when you know it, instead of labelling entire directions good or bad.
Where do this tool's verdicts come from?
Every verdict is read from a versioned, deterministic rule set compiled from classical Vastu sources — the same input always produces the same output, and each result lists its sources with a confidence level. No AI generates or alters verdicts.
Can remedies fix an inauspicious entrance?
Traditional texts prescribe remedies for many entrance positions, and this tool lists them where they exist. For construction, purchase or renovation decisions, treat the tool as a first check and consult a qualified Vastu expert before committing.
